Freeport Community Services works for everyone because of the kindness of caring citizens in Freeport and Pownal who volunteer thousands of hours every year. There are many volunteer opportunities that are of great help to FCS and our local residents.
We encourage you to select one that most suits your interests and join in!

Volunteer as a pantry tender to help customers choose their food
Organize a neighborhood, family or workplace food drive
Help with special projects in the pantry
Substitute in the Food Pantry to cover vacations, illness, etc.
Join the team organizing inventory and packing/unpacking food
Thrift Shop
Help sort donations
Assist customers in the gift shop, 2-3 hour shifts
Help organize the boutique
Become a Thrift Shop substitute
Help Your Neighbors
Join “Read To Succeed” and become a volunteer reader to children in child care homes, 1 hour/week
Adopt a person to help with outside chores – snow shoveling in winter and raking and clean up in the spring and fall
Take a senior who is home-bound shopping
Organize a fundraiser for the Carol Kaplan Emergency Fuel Fund
Volunteer to give rides to medical appointments
During the Holidays
Prepare a family food basket for Thanksgiving or Holiday Helpline
Adopt a family and purchase gifts for them during the FCS Holiday Helpline
Wrap gifts to benefit FCS at L.L. Bean during December
Volunteer to organize/label gifts, prepare packages and give out gifts for Holiday Helpline, 3-hr. shifts
Bake treats for volunteers during special events
