Holiday Helpline
Holiday Helpline is here to enhance the holiday spirit of giving in the community by connecting anonymous donors with families and adults in Freeport and Pownal who request assistance.
Through the Holiday Helpline, adults may receive up to two gifts each and children up to four gifts each.
Freeport Community Services’ gift suggestions are:
- something you want
- something you need
- something to wear
- something to read.
Families are asked to keep each gift on their Wish List under $50.
How the process works: Families & Adults in Need of Holiday Help
Holiday Helpline applications are available to residents in Freeport and Pownal Oct. 16 – Dec. 8, 2023 at Freeport Community Services.
Holiday Helpline staff review applications in receipt order. FCS has no control over when and how quickly applications come in, so please be aware it may take longer than anticipated to match.

How the process works: Donors
We match donors with families through Dec. 11, 2023.
Interested donors, please email the Holiday Helpline, or call (207) 865-3985 ext. 205.
Please include the number of people you would like to adopt, and we will do our best to match your request. Depending on family size, you may be assigned more than one family. Please note that not all families include children.
Donors will receive an email from the Holiday Helpline that includes:
- Family Gift Wish List(s)
- Adopter Match Letter with instructions for labeling
- Request to deliver gifts to FCS Dec. 18-19, 2023, 9am-4pm.
If you have not heard from us, please check your spam mail periodically.
FCS also partners with the Bruce Roberts Portland Press Herald Toy Fund, in addition to our community, to provide warm clothing and toys to families in need in Freeport and Pownal.
Volunteer Your Time
We also need a host of volunteers to help make this effort come together – wrapping gifts, boxing them together and more.

Thanksgiving
Each holiday season we give thanks by providing food boxes, hosting a Thanksgiving Day meal, and delivering meals to those who are not able to join us at the Community Center.
Community Thanksgiving Meal
The community is invited to join us for a scrumptious Thanksgiving Day meal at Freeport Community Center! No need to pre-register. Dinners are served from 11am – 2pm on Thanksgiving Day, and seating is continuous in the Bradley Room.
Sign Up for a Food Box
Thanksgiving food boxes are complete with a turkey and lots of fixings for those who wish to prepare their meal at home.
We also deliver hot, prepared meals on Thanksgiving Day to our neighbors who are housebound.

Donate or Volunteer!
Volunteer for this special, seasonal effort and join our lively crew to help with sorting, cooking and/or delivering food. Learn more about volunteering with FCS, fill out the volunteer application, or contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Susan Adams, at (207) 865-3985 ext. 206 or by email.
Food donations from community members are a critical part of us being able to provide those in need and our community at large with Thanksgiving meals. Please learn more about our Thanksgiving food donation guidelines.
