Summer camp helps children grow into happy and confident adults. FCS camp scholarships make it possible for children to attend a summer camp of their choice where they engage in a full day of outdoor fun, arts and crafts and skill building activities. The scholarship program, which is designed to address the needs of our most vulnerable children, has provided more than 3,000 summer camp experiences to children in our community.
Collaboration is at the heart of the Camp Scholarship program. Each year, the Town of Freeport, Freeport Housing Trust and FCS team up to fund this program that gives families a place to turn to when they need help sending their child to summer camp. Over 70% of the families who receive scholarships are eligible for free and reduced school lunch, which is an important indicator of income and need. Scholarships are awarded based on need and availability.
At Freeport Community Services we know that when a community takes care of its children, everyone benefits.

Read to Succeed
When we instill a love of books and reading in preschool children we begin to establish lifelong literacy skills and a solid foundation for learning. Freeport Community Services’ award-winning Read to Succeed is an outreach literacy program that recruits, trains and places volunteer readers into daycares and preschools. Each week, FCS volunteers choose from a wide variety of books selected with the help of the Freeport community library. Every year a handful of volunteer readers share hundreds of hours of time with their young readers.
Volunteer your time.

I am a single mother, and also the sole provider. We have had many setbacks, but still going forward. Thank you for your help to send my daughter to camp.
