At our 2024 event, we gave away 200 backpacks and school supply kits and served over 300 free meals. LLBean donated 150 backpacks, and community donors gave 50 backpacks and tons of school supplies.
Many sponsors and volunteers contributed. The whole day was a big success!
A Message from Our Executive Director
I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your incredible support in making Community Day 2024 a resounding success! This year was particularly special as we celebrated our 50th anniversary ❤.
About seven years ago, when we first thought of this event, our goal was to create an inclusive celebration for everyone involved with FCS. Community Day became our way of engaging with and thanking everyone who contributes to making FCS such a special place.
It’s clear that our traditional Community Day is eagerly anticipated. It’s amazing how quickly the backpacks and supplies find their way to those in need, and this year was no different. I also love seeing the growing number of local groups joining us each year, adding to the fun and engagement. Here’s hoping we can welcome even more groups, nonprofits, and businesses next year!
The birthday celebration in the evening was the icing on the cake. While our Community Day often focuses on children, it was wonderful to offer something for all ages this year. Everything was fantastic— the music, the food, the drinks, the company, and the WEATHER! It truly felt like a perfect day.
Thank you for making one of our most important days of the year so memorable. My heart is full, and I truly feel that our vision from so many years ago came to life.

Celebrate with Us
Community Day is Freeport Community Services’ way of giving a big hug to our entire community. And this year, we are celebrating our 50th birthday!
Come for the Backpack and School Supply giveaway in the afternoon, where businesses and organizations will have games and activities for all to enjoy.
Return in the evening for our Birthday Bash, with a rock ‘n’ roll band, food and oysters, and a beer & beverage tent.
We look forward to seeing our community on this special day! We want everyone to know that we love and appreciate them!
