Community Center

The Center of Our Community

The Freeport Community Center is a hub of activity—connecting our community members and enriching lives every day, all year long. The center is owned and managed by Freeport Community Services. It serves as a favorite gathering place for community members as well as a venue for many community arts and cultural events, educational and recreational activities.

The Community Center is an inviting, large, clean, well-lit building that houses The Thrift Shop, Food Pantry, a large meeting room with a commercial kitchen and a cafe bar with lobby seating. Five non-profit organizations have offices in the center and additional office space is available for rent.

Thrift Shop

Fashion, furniture and fabulous finds!

The FCS Thrift Shop is among the best thrift stores in New England. It is welcoming, organized and accessible, and features a wide selection of in-season clothing and footwear. Stop by and explore our collection of housewares, furniture, vintage goods and collectibles. There’s always something new and unexpected at the Thrift Shop.

Your donation of gently used clothing, furniture and household items helps us keep the Thrift Shop well stocked.

Food Pantry

The FCS Food Pantry provides food to residents in need from Freeport and Pownal, Maine.

Faced with the challenges presented by the ever-increasing needs, Freeport Community Services, with generous support from the community, fills that need and is a resource to those in the community who need it. FCS prides itself on creating a welcoming, market-like experience to those who visit the pantry. And, with many volunteers supporting the pantry in a variety of capacities the pantry remains one of our most used and needed services.

FCS is a partner agency with the Good Shepherd Food Bank (GSFB), and supplemental supplies are purchased at the GSFB warehouse. FCS also receives supplies through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) of the US Department of Agriculture. We also partner with Wayside Food Programs in Portland and pick up donated food through their Commodity Supplemental Food Program for low income seniors.

We are fortunate to have strong community support from individuals, businesses and organizations, civic and school groups who help, to maintain a well-stocked pantry.

Volunteering for Freeport Community Services means so much to me. The work the organization does represents the essence of being part of a caring community. We help each other no matter what the circumstances. It connects me to wonderful individuals and to the heart of the community.
