27 Jan Freeze Out 2022! We’re Freezin’ for a Reason!
February 26th from 10 am – 3 pm
For the past 18 years, on a chilly day in February, we’ve pulled on our bright red mittens and headed outside. Alongside our neighbors, we raise funds for and awareness of our heating assistance programs and we collect food for our pantry programs. Help us ensure that our neighbors in Freeport & Pownal continue to have ample access to food and fuel resources within their community.
What does $300 mean to you?
We have all seen the price of heating our homes increase. For Freeport & Pownal families in need, $350 can mean a warm, safe place to live, work and study this winter. This year, FCS’s average allotment of heating assistance is $350 which equates to:
- 100 gallons of heating oil,
- 1 ton of pellets,
- 1 cord of wood, or
- 1 tank of propane or K1
Our locally funded heating assistance program is critical to bridging the gap between the beginning of the heating season and when government heating assistance becomes available. As our community continues to adapt to the long-term impacts of living through a pandemic, we know that having a warm, safe home has never been more important.
