Thrift Shop Cashier Assistant(s)

  • Provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment; ability to multi-task, answer customer questions, field phone calls, promote sales, etc.
  • Ability to operate computer / iPad cash register system, process charge cards, memorize price-points and accurately count change is required
  • Convey messaging regarding our return policy, closing hours, donation hours, minimum purchase amounts for credit cards and masking reminders
  • This position is located inside the Thrift Shop, behind the counter and plexiglass barrier (Please note: because of the physical set-up, there is not space for social distancing behind the counter)
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 pounds is required
  • Shifts are Thursdays and Fridays 11:45 am – 2:30 pm and 2:30 – 5:15 pm and Saturdays 9:45 am – 12:30 pm and 12:30 – 3:15 pm
  • Ideally volunteers will commit to a regular weekly or monthly shift

Thrift Shop Off-Hours Merchandising Assistant(s)

  • Assist Thrift Shop staff with stocking merchandise, tidying clothes racks and arranging displays
  • Shifts are Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am (before the shop opens) and Saturdays from 9:00 – 10:00 am (before the shop opens)
  • On Saturdays, this job could be combined with the Greeter position or the Cashier position
  • Ideally volunteers will commit to a regular weekly or monthly shift

Thrift Shop Greeter / Occupancy Monitor

  • Welcoming customers to the shop
  • Reminding customers about COVID-related safety precautions, such as wearing a mask
  • Explaining our temperature scanner to customers as they enter the shop
  • Counting customers as they enter and exit the building, per safe occupancy requirements
  • Answering general customer questions regarding FCS services
  • This position is situated at the door of the Thrift Shop (not inside the shop)
  • Available shifts are Saturdays 9:45 am – 12:30 pm
  • Other weekday shifts may become available – please check with Susan!
  • Ideally volunteers will commit to a regular weekly or monthly shift

Food Pantry Distribution Assistant(s)

  • Provide excellent customer service to food pantry patrons as they shop
  • Distribute pre-packed bags of meats, canned goods and dry goods
  • This position is inside the food pantry, behind a plexiglass barrier
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds is required
  • Ability walk and stand during shift; bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, stooping as needed
  • This position can be filled with one or two people from the same household
  • Shifts are Mondays 10:45 am – 1:00 pm and 12:45 – 3:15 pm
  • Ideally volunteers will commit to a regular weekly or monthly shift

Food Pantry Greeter / Occupancy Monitor

  • Welcoming food pantry patrons to the center (during hours when the Thrift Shop is closed)
  • Reminding food pantry patrons about COVID-related safety precautions, such as wearing a mask and using the FCS temperature scanning machine
  • Counting patrons as they enter and exit the building, per safe occupancy requirements
  • Ability to use FCS computer or iPad to collect food pantry documentation is required
  • This position is situated at the front door of FCS (not inside the food pantry)
  • Shifts are Mondays 10:45 am – 1:00 pm and 12:45 – 3:00 pm
  • Ideally volunteers will commit to a regular weekly or monthly shift
