Volunteers Needed

Fall has been in the air recently, and with that comes gearing-up for fall volunteer needs at FCS. We realize the demands of volunteering have changed considerably because of the pandemic. In light of safety concerns, we’ve had to re-think operations in the Thrift Shop and Food Pantry. While we are not able to have volunteers working inside the Thrift Shop or Food Pantry during operating hours, we still need volunteers to help keep our operations running smoothly. Please check-out the volunteer listings below and let us know if you are able to help at FCS!

To protect the safety of volunteers, staff and the general public, the following safety protocols are in place at FCS:

  • Volunteers and staff complete a COVID-19 self-screening and temperature check.
  • Masks are required for volunteers, staff and the general public.
  • Volunteers will not be in the Thrift Shop or Food Pantry during operating hours.
  • Social distancing will be maintained in all workspaces.

Here are a few of the ways you can help FCS this fall:

  • Dusting and straightening merchandise, re-hanging clothes, etc.

  • Counting customers as they enter and exit the building, per safe occupancy requirements
  • Recording voluntary contact tracing information as customers enter the store
  • This position is situated OUTSIDE the Thrift Shop (inside if inclement weather)
  • Shifts are 2.5 hours (seated), Tuesdays 2:30 – 5 pm, 1st Saturday of the month and occasional Friday afternoons

Food Pantry Off-Hours Assistant

  • Packing bags with dry and canned goods (must be able to lift 30 lbs.)
  • Maintaining general housekeeping in the Food Panty storage area, such as folding bags, light cleaning, etc.
  • This position is situated in the Bradley Room and does not include interaction with food pantry patrons
  • Shifts are 2 hours, ideally on Wednesdays 9 – 11 am (or another mutually agreed upon time)

Thanks to all our volunteers – we really appreciate your help!
