06 May Donate to the Carol Southall Summer Camp Scholarship Program
For many children, summer camp is a rite of passage. The experience provides unplugged time outdoors, introductions to new friends and creates memories that last well into adulthood.
Since 1981, FCS has provided local students with Summer Camp scholarships, thanks to Carol Southall, a former elementary school nurse and FCS founder who understood the need for time outside. With your thoughtful support, we can continue Carol’s enduring legacy.
Carol recognized that camp is a privilege that not all families have access to – the loss of a job or childcare, health challenges, and other life circumstances all play a part. Our Summer Camp scholarship program is designed to remove these barriers, so that kids of all ages can experience the lifelong benefits of camp.
Support from programs like this buoy our community and open doors for vulnerable families in Freeport and Pownal. This year, with the increase in camp pricing and continued need, we are looking to raise $35,000 for our Camp Scholarship Program, and we cannot do it without your generous support.
With your help, our hope is to send 100 local kids to camp in 2026. We think you will agree that when neighbors help neighbors, anything is possible. Let’s take the challenges families face, and turn them into opportunities for connection, growth and the unparalleled joy of a Maine summer outdoors!
