Join us in the FCS courtyard (weather permitting) to celebrate summer with FREE ice...
FCS and Meetinghouse Arts are proud to present a Q+A with Charlie Hewitt, the artist behind the beloved Hopeful Project. His lighted, colorful sculptures provide a beacon of hope in communities around the country. The original Hopeful sign can be viewed at Speedwell Projects in Portland, Maine, and in 2021, his Hopeful installation appeared at the Presidential inauguration. In addition to his Hopeful Project, Hewitt has practiced painting, printmaking and sculpting for over 50 years in Maine and New York City.
The conversation with Hewitt will be moderated by Deborah McLean of the Lemont Block Artist Collective in Brunswick. The two will discuss his history as an artist, the meaning behind the Hopeful signs, and how the project supports community. Time will be provided for audience Q+A.
All are welcome to this free event. We’ll meet in the Bradley Room at FCS on March 18 at 6 p.m. To learn more about Charlie Hewitt, visit here.
